AACP Will Launch Web Site in January

The AACP is entering the world wide web at the end of January. A web site, titled "The Virtual Community Psychiatrist" has been created by Ken Thompson, MD, webmaster and Wes Sowers, MD, editor of Community Psychiatrist, with administrative help from Patricia Evans and technical guidance from Steve Marcus, both of the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry. The site is "powered" by a grant from Eli Lilly and Co., and support from the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry, St. Francis Health System and Poppe Tyson Interactive. Jay Good and Pamela McAllister of Poppe Tyson designed the site with donated time. Needless to say, the AACP owes these organizations and individuals a debt of gratitude.

The site, which is nearing completion for its initial launch will have information about the AACP and its board; archives of materials we have produced, including back issues of the newsletter; an interactive membership application; and capacity for e-mail exchange and connection to AACP listservs and other links. Plans at present call for the site to be updated at least quarterlyl initially and more frequently as we gain experience. More features will be added with time.
