Early Career Psychiatrists
At a recent AACP Board
meeting, discussion focused on the need to increase the number of early
career psychiatrists (ECPs) on the Board. The current Board, productive
but "graying", has clearly benefitted from the input of fresh ideas and
perspectives of psychiatrists who have recently completed their training.
ECPs currently on the board include: Russell Lim, MD ,
Chair of the Diversity Committee; and Warachal Faison, MD
, and Elizabeth Oudens, MD
, who are the new editors of our newsletter. The Membership Committee
will develop new ways of recruiting ECPs in order to increase their number
in the general AACP membership. In addition, given that the Bylaws provide
for an Early Career Psychiatrist slot on the Board, AACP President, Jackie Feldman, MD
is accepting nominations of ECPs for appointment to the Board. If you
or someone you know is an early career psychiatrist (one who has completed
residency training in the past five years) and is interested in serving on
the AACP Board (a working board!), please contact Jackie Feldman at
